Troubleshooting TeamSnap Calendar Subscription Issues

Article Contents:

If your TeamSnap events show the wrong time on your phone or computer calendar, or new and changed events aren't showing up, the five steps below will fix most problems. Work through them in order.

This guide is for you if:

  • Events on your personal calendar are an hour (or more) earlier or later than they appear in TeamSnap
  • Events you added or changed in TeamSnap haven't appeared on your calendar
  • Your TeamSnap calendar subscription stopped updating

🇨🇦 TeamSnap recently updated time zone settings for teams in Canada. Phones, tablets, and calendar apps each carry their own time zone information, so a device or app that isn't up to date can show the wrong time even when the event is correct in TeamSnap. The steps below help you rule that out. (November 2026)

Before you begin: open one event in TeamSnap (in the app or on the website) and write down its date, start time, and time zone. After each step, compare it to the same event on your personal calendar.

How calendar subscriptions work

A TeamSnap calendar subscription is a one-way feed: TeamSnap publishes your schedule, and your calendar app (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or another) checks that feed for updates on its own schedule.

  • Updates are not instant. Apple, Google, and Microsoft decide how often subscribed calendars refresh. It can take several hours and sometimes more than a day.
  • It's one-way. Changes you make to a subscribed event in your personal calendar don't go back to TeamSnap, and may be overwritten the next time the calendar refreshes.
  • Your device decides how times are displayed. The event arrives with a time and time zone, and your phone or calendar app converts it using its own time zone settings and time zone data.

Step 1: Update your devices and apps

Phones, computers, and calendar apps learn about time zone changes through software updates.

🇨🇦 Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia are no longer setting clocks back in November 2026, so a device or app that hasn't been updated can still apply the old rules and show events an hour off. (November 2026)

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings > General > Software Update and install any available update.
  2. If you see a message saying Updated Time Zone Information Available, restart your iPhone or iPad (and your Apple Watch, if you have one).
  3. Open Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure Set Automatically is on.
  4. Open the App Store, tap your profile picture, and update TeamSnap and any calendar app you use (such as Google Calendar or Outlook).

Android phones and tablets

  1. Open Settings and look for Software update or System > System update (the name varies by manufacturer). Install any available update, then restart your device.
  2. Open Settings > System > Date & time (or search Settings for "date") and turn on Set time zone automatically.
  3. Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Manage apps & device, and update TeamSnap, Google Calendar, and any other calendar app you use (such as Outlook or Samsung Calendar).

Windows and Mac computers

  • Windows: Open Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates, then restart.
    • Microsoft's October 2026 update adds the new Canadian time zones, which Outlook relies on.
  • Mac: Open System Settings > General > Software Update and install any available update.
  • Update Outlook or any other desktop calendar app you use to subscribe to your TeamSnap calendar.

Once everything is updated, restart your device and check one TeamSnap event on your personal calendar against the details you wrote down earlier.

Step 2: Check your time zone settings

Three places each have a time zone setting, and all three need to agree: your device, your calendar app, and TeamSnap. If any one is wrong, events can look an hour (or more) off.

Your device

  • iPhone or iPad: Open Settings > General > Date & Time. The Time Zone line should show a city in your area, such as Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, or Vancouver.

Also open Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services and make sure Setting Time Zone is on.

  • Android: Open Settings > System > Date & time and check that Set time zone automatically is on, or that the time zone you've picked is correct for where you live.
  • Windows: Right-click the clock, choose Adjust date and time, and check that the time zone matches your region.
  • Mac: Open System Settings > General > Date & Time and confirm Set time zone automatically is on, or the correct city is selected.

Your calendar app

Calendar apps can have their own time zone setting that overrides your device.

  • Apple Calendar (iPhone and iPad): Open Settings, find Calendar (it may be under Apps), and tap Time Zone Override. Turn it off, or make sure it's set to your own time zone.
  • Apple Calendar (Mac): Open Calendar > Settings > Advanced. If Turn on time zone support is checked, use the time zone menu at the top right of the Calendar window to confirm the right time zone.
  • Google Calendar (app): Open the menu, then Settings > General, and turn on Use device time zone.
  • Google Calendar (web): Click the gear icon, choose Settings, then check Time zone > Primary time zone.
  • Outlook (web or app): Open Settings > Calendar (or General > Language and time on the web) and check the Time zone setting.
  • Outlook (Windows desktop): Open File > Options > Calendar > Time zones and check the time zone listed.

TeamSnap

  • Open an event in TeamSnap and check that the start time and time zone shown are what you expect.
  • Check the time zone in your TeamSnap organization or team settings.
  • If the event itself looks wrong in TeamSnap, and organization admin or team manager can update.

If the time is right in TeamSnap but wrong in your calendar, continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Unsubscribe and resubscribe

Removing your TeamSnap calendar and subscribing again clears out old, cached copies of your events and downloads a fresh schedule. Always remove the old subscription first, so you don't end up with two TeamSnap calendars showing duplicate events.

To resubscribe, you'll need your calendar subscription link from TeamSnap. Get a fresh copy of the link from TeamSnap's calendar sync option rather than reusing an old one.

iPhone and iPad (Apple Calendar)

Remove:

  1. Open Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Subscribed Calendars (on newer iOS versions, start at Settings > Apps > Calendar).
  2. Tap your TeamSnap calendar, then tap Delete Account.

Add again:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open your TeamSnap subscription link, and tap Subscribe when prompted.
  2. Or go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Add Account > Other > Add Subscribed Calendar, paste the link, and tap Next and then Save.

Mac (Apple Calendar)

  1. In the Calendar sidebar, right-click (or Control-click) your TeamSnap calendar and choose Unsubscribe.
  2. Choose File > New Calendar Subscription, paste your link, and click Subscribe.
  3. Set Auto-refresh to a short interval, such as Every hour, and click OK.

Google Calendar (iPhone, Android, and computer)

Google Calendar subscriptions have to be changed on a computer, at calendar.google.com. The change then syncs to your phone.

Remove:

  1. Click the gear icon, then Settings.
  2. Under Settings for other calendars, click your TeamSnap calendar.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and click Unsubscribe.

Add again:

  1. Next to Other calendars, click +, then From URL.
  2. Paste your TeamSnap link and click Add calendar. If Google doesn't accept the link, change the beginning from webcal://  to https://  and try again.
  3. On your phone, open the Google Calendar app, go to Settings, tap your TeamSnap calendar, and make sure it's turned on for display and sync.

Outlook

  • Outlook on the web: Right-click your TeamSnap calendar and choose Remove. Then choose Add calendar > Subscribe from web, paste your link, and click Import.
  • Outlook for Windows: Right-click your TeamSnap calendar and choose Delete Calendar. Then choose Home > Add Calendar > From Internet, paste your link, and click OK.

Other Android calendar apps

Apps like Samsung Calendar usually show the calendars from your Google account. Subscribe in Google Calendar on a computer (above), then make sure that Google account's calendars are turned on in your phone's calendar app.

After you resubscribe, give the calendar time to load. Don't resubscribe again for at least 24 hours, because repeating this step restarts the clock.

Step 4: Wait at least 24 hours

After you update, change settings, or resubscribe, wait at least 24 hours before deciding the fix didn't work. Apple, Google, and Microsoft each control how often subscribed calendars refresh, and TeamSnap can't speed that up. Google Calendar and Outlook in particular can take many hours to show changes.

While you wait:

  • Don't remove and re-add the subscription again. Each time you do, the refresh starts over.
  • Don't edit TeamSnap events in your personal calendar. Changes made there don't go back to TeamSnap, and the next refresh may overwrite them.
  • Use TeamSnap as the source of truth for game and practice times until your calendar catches up.

If you'd like to nudge your calendar to check for updates, you can try:

  • iPhone or iPad: Open the Calendar app, tap Calendars at the bottom, and pull down on the list to refresh. You can also check Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Fetch New Data, and make sure it's not set to Manually.
  • Android: Open Settings > Accounts, tap your Google account, then Account sync, and turn Calendar off and back on.
  • Mac: In Calendar, choose View > Refresh Calendars.
  • Outlook: Close and reopen the app, or sign out and back in.

Step 5: Run through these additional checks

If the time is still wrong after 24 hours, these checks help you pinpoint where the problem is. Work through them and note what you find. It will help us if you need to contact Support.

Look for a pattern

Open a few events on your calendar, including some from before November 1 and some after, and compare them to TeamSnap.

What you see What it likely means What to do
Events before November 1 are right, but events on or after November 1 are an hour off Your device or calendar app is using out-of-date time zone rules Repeat Step 1, then restart your device
Every event is off by the same number of hours A time zone setting is wrong on your device or in your calendar app Repeat Step 2, especially Time Zone Override or Use device time zone
Only some events or one team is off The time zone for that team or event may be set incorrectly in TeamSnap Ask your org admin or team manager to check the team and event time zone
New or changed events don't show up at all The subscription isn't refreshing Repeat Step 3, then wait 24 hours (Step 4)
You see duplicate events You have more than one TeamSnap subscription, or saved events by hand See the checklist below

Checklist

  • Check the web version of your calendar. Sign in at calendar.google.com, outlook.com, or icloud.com on a computer. If events are right on the web but wrong on your phone, the problem is on your device. If they're wrong in both places, note that for Support.
  • Check on a second device. If you have another phone, tablet, or computer, look at the same event there.
  • Look for duplicate subscriptions. Open your calendar list and make sure there's only one TeamSnap calendar per team or schedule. Remove any extras.
  • Remove events you saved by hand. If you ever added individual events to your calendar from TeamSnap, they won't update with the subscription. Delete them and rely on the subscription.
  • Make sure the calendar is turned on. In your calendar app's list of calendars, the TeamSnap calendar should be checked or switched on, and sync should be enabled.
  • Check background refresh and battery settings. On iPhone, check Settings > General > Background App Refresh. On Android, check that battery saver or data saver isn't restricting your calendar app.
  • Check your internet connection. Your calendar needs to be online to refresh.
  • Check for a managed device. If your phone or computer is managed by a work or school account, your organization may control the time zone or calendar settings.
  • Check shared and family calendars. If you see the calendar through someone else's account, their settings and device control how it refreshes.
  • Restart your devices. After all updates and setting changes, restart your phone, tablet, and computer. Restart your Apple Watch or other paired device too.

Google and Microsoft each keep their own time zone data on their servers. If events are wrong in the web version of your calendar even after you've updated everything, the calendar service itself may still be catching up. Let us know which service you use when you contact Support.

Still not right? Contact TeamSnap Support

If you've completed all five steps and waited 24 hours, we'd like to take a closer look. Please contact TeamSnap Support and include the details below. They let us tell quickly whether the issue is on your device, with your calendar service, or in TeamSnap.

  1. Your organization and/or team name and the time zone the team is set to in TeamSnap
  2. One example event: its name, date, and the start time and time zone shown in TeamSnap
  3. What your calendar shows for that same event (a screenshot helps)
  4. A before-and-after comparison: whether events before November 1 are correct and events after are wrong
  5. Your device and software version: for example, iPhone 15 with iOS 18.2, or Pixel 8 with Android 15
  6. Your calendar app and how you subscribe: Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or another app, and whether you're using the phone app, the web, or a desktop app
  7. The time zone settings from Step 2: your device time zone, and your calendar's time zone or time zone override setting
  8. What you've tried: the steps you completed, and when you last resubscribed
  9. Whether the event looks right on the web version of your calendar (such as calendar.google.com or outlook.com)

Frequently asked questions

Will unsubscribing delete my events in TeamSnap? No. Unsubscribing only removes the copy of the schedule on your personal calendar. Your team's schedule and your TeamSnap account aren't affected.

Why do some of my teammates see the right time and others don't? Each person's phone and calendar app has its own software version and time zone settings. Someone with updated software and the right settings can see correct times while another person may see an hour's difference.

Why were my events fine before November 1 but wrong after? Time zone rules take effect on a specific date. Devices or apps with out-of-date rules apply the old schedule from that date forward, so only later events look wrong.

Do I need to do this on every device? Yes. Update and check settings on each phone, tablet, and computer where you view your calendar. If you subscribe through Google Calendar or Outlook, you only need to resubscribe once, but each device still needs to be up to date.

Can I make my calendar refresh faster? Not reliably. Your calendar app controls how often it checks for updates, and TeamSnap can't change it. The refresh tips in Step 4 can help, but waiting is the most dependable approach.

Can I edit TeamSnap events in my personal calendar? We don't recommend it. A subscribed calendar is one-way, so changes you make there don't go to TeamSnap and may be overwritten when the calendar refreshes.
